Navy ship in a body of water.

Blue Water Navy Veterans

Are you a veteran that served aboard a vessel that operated within 12 nautical miles from the demarcation line of the waters of Vietnam and Cambodia between January 9, 1962 and May 7, 1975? Do you suffer from medical conditions that have been linked to exposure to herbicides like Agent Orange? Up until recently, if you did not have “boots on the ground or plane” meaning you actually set foot on landmass in that area or aboard a C-123 plane which sprayed Agent Orange, you were not entitled to a presumption of service connected disability. That all changes with Public Law 116-23 which was signed into law on June 25, 2019. Now, if you can demonstrate that you were aboard a ship that sat in water up to 12 nautical miles from shore and you can show that you have a disease that the VA has identified as presumptively connected to the exposure, or you have a doctor that has indicated it is connected, then you may be entitled to service connected compensation. This will make it easier for thousands of veterans to recover compensation benefits from the VA.
