Dear Rockford, I delight in your food.
One of the amazing things about Rockford is the variety of food you provide. Rockford, I delight in your food! Rockford has so many great niche restaurants available that specialize in a variety of cuisines not found at chain establishments. It’s unlikely I could find such a vast array in another town of similar size. Rockford, you are amazing in how you encourage small businesses to open specialty restaurants and show your support day after day for these establishments.
Lino’s is one of Rockford’s best authentic fine dining Italian restaurants. Established in 1972 by the Battista Family, its décor and cuisine are unmatched in any other city, offering both traditional table service and banquet facilities. If you are craving Swedish tradition and flair, head over to Stockholm Inn. Opened in 1968 by Gus and Maxine Peterson, Stockholm Inn serves up delights such as Swedish pancakes and giant cinnamon rolls.
For fine dining, romantic date nights or even dueling piano shows, check out Franchesco’s Ristorante. Opened in 1986 by the Salamone family, this establishment brings Sicilian traditions to the Rockford area. If you are seeking a place with live music, try The Norwegian where you can enjoy brunch with a Nordic twist.
If you have a taste for Japanese cuisine, JMK Nippon is the place to go. There, you can enjoy traditional Japanese food and entertainment with the food prepared on a grill in front of you. If you are in a hurry or don’t require the spectacle, you can enjoy the same great food in the cafe area. Be prepared to fill your belly! Want Mexican with a unique twist instead? Check out Lucha Cantina, where you’ll find a blend of Latin and Mexican flavors. The Binning family opened this gem in 2013, providing good food, a warm atmosphere, fun events and catering. The number of salsas you can choose from is unbelievable!
Restaurants are not the only great places to get food in Rockford. The city is home to a wide variety of food trucks, which can be found parked in lots in the shopping districts, along the riverfront at Nicholas Conservatory, downtown at the Rockford City Market and many other places. Woodfire Pizza offers homemade wood-fired pizzas. Cantina Taco serves street tacos with a unique and addicting flavor. The number of food trucks owned by Rockfordians that are available is so awesome. What a great way to enjoy dinner with friends on a warm summer evening!
Rockford, I delight in your food. You offer so many amazing and diverse places to enjoy good food, good conversation and a good time. I delight in your food!
