As we look ahead into 2026 and beyond, we remain committed to serving the residents of Northern Illinois with the same integrity and purpose that has guided us for the past 25 years.
Tracy Jones, Attorney/Owner
Tracy began her legal career right out of law school in 2006 at The Law Office of Jim Black & Associates. As an associate attorney, she quickly discovered her passion for advocating for injured workers and individuals with disabilities. In January 2014, she became the firm’s managing attorney, and just one year later, she ushered in a new era as an owner/partner when the firm transitioned to Black & Jones Attorneys at Law.
Raised near Rockford in Rochelle, Illinois, Tracy graduated from Northern Illinois University and earned her Juris Doctor (JD) from The John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law). Over the course of her career, she has represented thousands of clients and now focuses her practice on protecting the rights of injured workers, fighting for Social Security Disability benefits and assisting veterans seeking service-connected compensation.
Jason Esmond, Attorney/Non-Equity Partner
Born and raised in the Rockford area, Jason joined Black & Jones as an associate attorney in 2009 and became a non-equity partner in 2022. His practice focuses on both workers’ compensation and Social Security Disability cases. Jason received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 2004 and his Juris Doctor from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, in May 2008.
Stephanie Seibold, Attorney/Non-Equity Partner
Born in Rockford and a life-long resident of the area, Stephanie began working as an associate attorney at Black & Jones in 2023. In 2025, she became a non-equity partner with the firm, where her practice focuses on workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability and veterans' compensation cases. She earned her JD from Northern Illinois University College of Law in 2012. She also attended Rock Valley College and holds an undergraduate degree in political science from Rockford University.
Ed Siebert, Attorney at Law
Ed joined Black & Jones in 2023, where his practice focuses on workers’ compensation and Social Security Disability. Previously, he has practiced in the areas of estate planning, real estate, commercial and personal litigation, criminal defense, appeals, corporate matters, family law and personal injury. Born and raised in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Ed earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Illinois and his JD from The John Marshall Law School (now the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law).
Sharon Haas, Firm Manager
Sharon began working at Black & Jones in 2009. As the Firm Manager, she handles managers the non-attorney staff and overseas daily operations of the firm. Sharon relocated to Rockford in 2001 and holds a degree in business information systems from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Jim Black, Retired Founding Partner
original founder, Jim Black. For more than 35 years, our founding partner, Jim Black, who is now retired, fought for the rights of injured workers and those with disabilities in the Rockford area. A Rockford native, Jim attended Rock Valley College and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1976. He received his JD from St. Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri. He returned to the Rockford area in 1987, where he focused his practice in workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability and personal injury law until his retirement in 2020. Despite his retirement, Jim’s passion for helping others and legacy lives on at Black & Jones.
